Sand Casting Sand

In the beginning I had collected a half dozen recipes for making my own casting sand. I had decided I wanted to go with something oil based, then I finally broke down and got a bag of Petrobond.

Check how FINE it is.

This stuff is as fine as flour but when compressed is as hard as a stone. I've pressed a coin into it and it has captured enough detail to read the text on the impression.

Even under a microscope it's
astounding how uniform this stuff is.
Definitely recommending the PetroBond, though I'm eager to find other samples to try and see what's different.
